Rights Based Approaches to Marine Conservation
Information
1 July 2022
1:00 - 2:30 pm LiSBON TIME
Biodiversity, natural resource conservation and human/nature rights go hand in hand. Human rights depend on healthy ecosystems and biodiversity, and conserving biodiversity also depends on the exercise of human rights.
Marine ecosystems are claimed by a number of different stakeholders, and particularly for those in vulnerable situations, it is important that their communities are self-strengthened through capacity development, education, effective communication, and equitable governance.
why take
action Now?
The year 2022 is crucial for people and nature. World leaders are coming together for COP15 (like the Climate COP26 in Glasgow) under the UN Biodiversity Conference to negotiate a critical global plan of action for the next decades. We need your help to push them to #stopthesame in these crucial negotiations so we can set ourselves on a path of transformative change.
